Soundtrack to Life
The track from the ‘Soundtrack to Life’ compilation this month is paying homage to the sweet sound of Motown.
The day the music died, Motown was born, and so, to celebrate 50 years (of the latter!), here’s a little Marvin and Tammi….
Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing
Touchdown!
Talk about coming back with a bang!
Beyonce – sorry, Sasha Fierce – must be furious. First an Academy Award for Dreamgirls and now this…!
Jennifer Hudson made her highly anticipated return to the spotlight last night, three months after the tragic slayings of her mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew. Dressed in jeans and a military jacket, Hudson took centre stage Sunday in front of millions of energized onlookers, and belted out a rousing rendition of the American National Anthem, to mark the beginning of the Super Bowl. I kid you not, it was the best rendition I’ve heard in a long time. And what a fitting song for the actress to sing: ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ – the ultimate song of courage and resilience.
Some are even comparing Hudson’s version to Whitney Houston’s famous 1991 performance. Now let’s not get carried away! As much as I enjoyed Jennifer’s rendition and argue you may… no one can rival a pre-crack Whitney Houston (and if you listen carefully, the Hudson arrangement is very similar to the predecessor).
But, that’s just my opinion. You can decide for yourselves – and feel free to sing along:
O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I have to admit, this is one occasion that makes me wish I were American. It just amazes me to see how deeply this anthem moves the States, and how prestigious the moment in your career, should you be lucky enough to have the honour of singing the sacred song.
I mean, honestly, does anyone care whether god saves the queen?!

After much speculation, it was announced today that Kelly Rowland has parted ways with her long-time manager Matthew Knowles.
As many of you know, Mr. Knowles, the father of R’n’B singer Beyonce, is responsible for catapulting Kelly and Destiny’s Child to superstardom in the late ’90s, and later, following that success, guiding Kelly’s solo career up the creek with a paddle. And I assure you… she didn’t make it!
Kelly Rowland, who gives a…? I hear you cry. My point exactly!
Rumours of a possible departure began in December, when reports claimed that a deal with Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment was imminent. However, no new management details were given in a statement issued today by Ms. Rowland and Mr. Knowles.
Well, I think I speak for all of us when I say that the sooner she signs with Simon Fuller, the better. Then, and only then, will she be in prime position to exterminate a young B !

Hello all,
Finally I post again … and why not start with some music?!
Brandy’s back!
We all know that she has had her, well, mostly downs over the past few years, but there’s no denying that the girl can sing!
She’s a forgotten, great, unique singer and her music doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

To celebrate this day and to get us all in the party mood, I must play Madonna – my favourite Madonna track at the moment to be precise.
Close the curtains, unplug the phone and dance, dance I said. Dance like nobody’s watching and sing like nobody’s listening. Or, in layman’s terms; party for one! I can’t start the day without it. And don’t pretend you don’t know what i’m talking about!
